Lady Vivian Worth knows perfectly well how to behave like a lady. But observing proper manners when there’s no one around to impress is just silly. Why shouldn’t she strip down to her chemise for a swim? When her betrothed arrives to finally meet her, Vivi will act every inch the lady – demure, polite, compliant. Everything her brother has promised the man. But until then, she’s going to enjoy her freedom…
A Revealing Discovery
Luke Forest, the newly named Duke of Foxhaven, wants nothing to do with his inheritance—or the bride that comes with it. He wants adventure and excitement, like the enchanting water nymph he’s just stumbled across. When he discovers the skinny-dipping minx is his intended, he reconsiders his plan to find Lady Vivian another husband. Because the idea of this vivacious woman in the arms of another man might be enough to drive him insane – or to the alter.
Even though this is book 4 in the Beau Monde series, we had no problems reading this book on it’s own. What we loved…the humor! It was fun watching Luke fall in love with Vivian; the two had great interactions. This book did have a very contemporary feel. We are definitely checking out the other titles in the series. We rated this book a 8.2 out of 10.
What Happens in Scotland by Jennifer McQuiston
She woke up married
When Lady Georgette Thorold awoke she saw…her corset hanging from the armoire…a very handsome, very naked Scotsman lying beside her…and a wedding ring on her finger!
Before the attractive stranger can tell her his name, Georgette does the only sensible thing – she runs for it.
Little does she know, James MacKenizie isn’t clear on what happened the night before either. All he knows is that his money is missing and the stunning woman who just ran from the room is either his wife or a thief…or possibly both.
What happens in Scotland when two complete strangers fall madly, deeply in love?
What Happens in Scotland is a debut novel. This story takes place over a very short period of time. This was a little hard for some of the girls to move past, particularly as it is mentioned multiple times through the story. The characters were quirky and some of girls liked this, while others thought it a little overplayed. It was agreed, however, that this story had great humor. We are certainly going to take a look at book number two in the series. This book received a 7 out of 10 rating.
What a scoundrel wants, a scoundrel gets. . .
A decade ago, the Marquess of Bourne was cast from society with nothing but his title. Now a partner in London’s most exclusive gaming hell, the cold, ruthless Bourne will do whatever it takes to regain his inheritance—including marrying perfect, proper Lady Penelope Marbury.
A broken engagement and years of disappointing courtships have left Penelope with little interest in a quiet, comfortable marriage, and a longing for something more. How lucky that her new husband has access to an unexplored world of pleasures.
Bourne may be a prince of London’s illicit underworld, but he vows to keep Penelope untouched by its wickedness—a challenge indeed as the lady discovers her own desires, and her willingness to wager anything for them . . . .even her heart.
The girls loved this book, in fact many rushed right out to buy book 2 in the series. We had a vigorous discussion of the what, why and how of the book as well as what each was expecting to happen in the rest of the series. Despite the hero’s past, his character is redeemable. Sarah MacLean did a great job of building the story without overwhelming the reader with historical details. This book was a definite winner with a ranking of 9.3 out of 10.
